Merhaba. This is Kamara's website. We're a film production company founded in Istanbul in 2011 by Can Eskinazi, Eytan Ipeker and Yoel Meranda. We like making political films that experiment with the language of cinema while opening a space for the audience. The company is currently run by director-producer Yoel Meranda who now lives in Paris.
We produced Mehmet Can Mertoğlu's first feature "Albüm", a black comedy about adoption, which won the Visionary Award at Semaine de la Critique 2016, Best Feature Film at Sarajevo. "Albüm" also screened at New Directors/New Films, Taipei Golden Horse, AFI, BAFICI, Warsaw, Melbourne, Vancouver, and Stockholm. It was co-produced by Arte France, Cedomir Kolar, Danis Tanovic and Calin Peter Netzer, supported by Eurimages, distributed worldwide by The Match Factory, and in France by Le Pacte.
We produced Eytan Ipeker's feature documentary "The Pageant" about a beauty pageant among Holocaust survivors taking place in Haifa. The film had its world premiere at the International Competition of Visions du Réel 2020. It was co-produced by Survivance, Spiro Films, and Welt Film. It is supported by CNC, Procirep-Angoa, and Tënk & Mediapart in France, and the New Film Fund in Turkey. The project was pitched at 2018 Sheffield Doc/Fest's Meetmarket and 2019 Istanbul Meetings on the Bridge where it won the Color Up Award. The film is distributed by Grasshopper Film in North America.
Yoel Meranda's first feature documentary "Excretapolitics", about the infrastructural injustices in Cape Town's informal settlements, had its world premiere at Joburg Film Festival and it's streaming on Tënk. The film was produced by Xavier Rocher in France, Bongiwe Selane in South Africa and Kristina Konrad in Germany. The project was financed by CNC, CNAP, Procirep in France and New Film Fund in Turkey.
Both Eytan's and Yoel's experimental videos have screened at Toronto and Edinburgh international film festivals.
We made commercials for Grey, DDB, Daniska, DDIP ad agencies, corporate videos for companies in Australia, Netherlands, Switzerland, Turkey, and USA, a web series together with Altyazı Film Journal and concert shootings for Idil Biret. You can see our showreel here.
